ABOUT THE SANY SY26U
The SANY SY26U is a compact 2.6-tonne-class mini excavator designed for construction, landscaping, drainage and utility work.
Its zero-tail-swing design keeps the rear of the machine within its track footprint during rotation, making it particularly useful alongside buildings, boundaries and other obstacles.
Despite its compact size, the SY26U offers a maximum digging depth of 2.82 metres and ground-level reach of 4.85 metres. Strong breakout forces and responsive load-sensing hydraulics provide controlled performance for excavation, grading and attachment work.
Rubber tracks help reduce marking on suitable finished surfaces, while the dozer blade can be used for backfilling, grading and stabilising the machine during excavation.
FAQs
How deep can the SANY SY26U dig?
The maximum stated digging depth is approximately 2.82 metres. Actual working depth depends on the bucket, machine position, ground conditions and excavation geometry.
How wide is the excavator?
The machine is approximately 1.55 metres wide. Access routes, gates, ground conditions and overhead clearances should be checked before delivery.
What does zero tail swing mean?
It means the rear of the upper structure remains substantially within the width of the tracks while rotating. This helps the operator work more confidently near walls and obstacles.
Which buckets are available?
A selection of digging and grading buckets may be available. Tell us about the trench width and material involved so the appropriate bucket package can be confirmed.
Can it use a hydraulic breaker?
Yes. The SY26U has auxiliary hydraulic capability for a compatible breaker such as the Epiroc SB 152, subject to the correct bracket, flow settings and couplings.
Is it suitable for landscaping?
Yes. Its compact dimensions, rubber tracks and precise controls make it well suited to garden excavations, drainage, patios, driveways and general landscaping.
NEED HELP CHOOSING?
Our team is here to help you find the right machine for your project.
Can it lift heavy materials?
Only within the manufacturer’s rated lifting capacities and with suitable lifting equipment. The machine must not be used as a crane without an appropriate lifting point, safety devices and planned lifting operation.
Do underground services need to be checked?
Yes. Electricity cables, gas pipes, water mains, drainage and communications services must be identified before excavation begins. Safe-digging procedures must be followed.
Do I need experience to operate it?
Yes. The excavator must only be operated by someone who is trained, competent and authorised to use the machine and any fitted attachment.
Can it be used on sloping ground?
Only within the manufacturer’s limits and following a site-specific risk assessment. Travelling, slewing or excavating across slopes can significantly affect stability.
Will the rubber tracks protect paving and lawns?
Rubber tracks reduce surface damage but do not guarantee that finished surfaces will remain unmarked. Protective mats may be required, particularly when turning.
Can I collect it using my own trailer?
Only if the towing vehicle, trailer, ramps and load restraints are appropriately rated. The machine weighs approximately 2,660 kg before buckets, fuel and attachments are considered.
Is fuel included?
Fuel arrangements will be confirmed when booking. Only the correct diesel should be used, and the machine should be returned with the agreed fuel level.
Can you deliver it to site?
Yes. Build Compound provides suitable plant delivery across Yorkshire, subject to location and availability.
What happens if the excavator breaks down?
Lower the attachment safely, isolate the machine and contact Build Compound. Do not attempt to dismantle or repair the machine or its hydraulic system yourself.
