ABOUT THE SANY SY10U
The SANY SY10U is an ultra-compact micro excavator designed for projects where conventional plant cannot easily gain access.
Its hydraulic undercarriage retracts to approximately 745 mm, allowing the machine to pass through many garden gates, narrow pathways and restricted openings. Once in the working area, the tracks expand to 1,100 mm to provide greater stability.
The zero-tail-swing design allows the upper structure to rotate within the machine’s footprint, reducing the risk of the rear striking nearby walls, fencing or other obstacles.
A Stage V Kubota diesel engine and responsive load-sensing hydraulics provide smooth, precise operation for digging, grading and approved attachment work.

It is suitable for garden excavation, landscaping, drainage, small foundations, utility trenches, ground clearance and other restricted-access projects.
How deep can it dig?
The manufacturer states a maximum digging depth of approximately 1.87 metres. Actual depth depends on the bucket, excavation profile, ground conditions and machine position.
How narrow is the excavator?
The tracks retract to approximately 745 mm and expand to around 1,100 mm. The complete access route must also be checked for height, surface strength, corners and overhead restrictions.
Does it have an enclosed cab?
The official UK SY10U is supplied with a protective operator canopy rather than a fully enclosed cab.
What does zero tail swing mean?
It means the rear of the excavator remains substantially within the width of its tracks when the upper structure rotates, making it easier to work close to walls and other obstructions.
Are buckets included?
An agreed digging bucket is included with the standard hire. Additional bucket widths and attachments can be requested, subject to availability.

Can it operate a hydraulic breaker?
Yes. The excavator has auxiliary hydraulic pipework suitable for an approved compatible breaker. The attachment is hired separately.
Do I need experience to operate it?
Yes. The excavator must only be operated by someone who is trained, competent and authorised by the site controller. Commercial sites may require recognised operator certification.
Can it travel through a house?
Its narrow width may allow access through some buildings, but floor strength, thresholds, turning space, exhaust emissions and potential damage must all be assessed. A diesel excavator must not be operated in an inadequately ventilated building.
What checks are needed before digging?
Underground electricity cables, gas pipes, water mains, drainage and other services must be identified before work begins. Suitable plans, detection equipment and safe-digging procedures are required.
Can it lift pipes or suspended loads?
Only when the machine, lifting point, accessories and operation comply with all applicable requirements. The rated lifting capacity must be followed and the lift planned by a competent person.
Can I transport the excavator myself?
Only with a suitable towing vehicle or transporter, sufficient payload capacity, the correct driving entitlement and properly rated restraint equipment. Build Compound can arrange delivery and collection.
Is fuel included?
Fuel arrangements will be confirmed when booking. The machine must be returned at the agreed fuel level and only the correct diesel should be used.
What happens if the machine breaks down?
Stop work, lower the attachment, make the machine safe and contact Build Compound immediately. Do not attempt to dismantle or repair it yourself.
