ABOUT THE SANY SY18C
The SANY SY18C is a compact mini excavator designed for construction, groundwork and landscaping projects where access, precision and productivity are equally important.
The enclosed cab offers improved protection from the weather, with a heater for operator comfort in colder conditions. Smooth load-sensing hydraulics provide precise control for digging, grading and attachment work.
Its hydraulic undercarriage retracts to approximately 980 mm for passing through restricted access points and expands to 1,350 mm to provide greater stability while working.
Hammer and bi-directional auxiliary hydraulic pipework increases versatility, allowing the excavator to operate compatible breakers and other approved attachments.
FAQs
What can the SANY SY18C be used for?
It is suitable for foundations, drainage, utility trenches, landscaping, driveway preparation, ground clearance and general excavation.
How narrow is the excavator?
The hydraulic undercarriage retracts to approximately 980 mm and expands to around 1,350 mm. The complete access route must be checked for width, height, surface strength and obstructions.
Are buckets included?
An agreed digging bucket is included with the standard hire. Additional bucket widths and attachments can be requested, subject to availability.
How deep can it dig?
The manufacturer states a maximum digging depth of approximately 2.36 metres. Actual depth depends on the excavation profile, bucket, ground conditions and safe machine positioning.
Does it have an enclosed cab?
Yes. The SY18C is supplied with an enclosed operator’s cab and heater, offering greater protection in poor or colder weather.
Can it operate a hydraulic breaker?
Yes. The machine has auxiliary hydraulic pipework suitable for an approved compatible breaker. The breaker is hired separately.
NEED HELP CHOOSING?
Our team is here to help you find the right machine for your project.
Do I need experience to operate it?
Yes. The excavator must only be operated by someone who is trained, competent and authorised by the site controller. Commercial sites may require recognised operator certification.
Can it be used inside a building?
Operating a diesel excavator inside or in a confined area introduces exhaust, ventilation, access and structural-loading risks. A suitable assessment and control measures are essential; a different machine may be required.
Can it lift pipes or other suspended loads?
Only when the machine, lifting point, accessories and lifting operation comply with all applicable requirements. The rated lifting chart must be followed and a competent person must plan the lift.
What checks are needed before digging?
Underground electricity cables, gas pipes, water mains, drainage and other services must be identified before work begins. Suitable service plans, detection equipment and safe-digging practices are required.
Can I transport the excavator myself?
Only with a suitable towing vehicle or transporter, sufficient payload capacity, the correct licence and properly rated restraint equipment. Build Compound can arrange delivery and collection.
Is fuel included?
Fuel arrangements will be confirmed when booking. The machine must be returned at the agreed fuel level and only the correct diesel should be used.
What happens if the machine breaks down?
Stop work, make the machine safe and contact Build Compound immediately. Do not dismantle or attempt to repair the excavator yourself.
